The EZ-Bath™ can be used for studies of vascular or non-vascular tissues, skeletal or smooth muscles, cardiac tissues/organs (e.g. atria, papillary, sinus node), and other isolated biological tissue or organ preparations. The EZ-Bath™ features multiple innovative, proprietary functions that ease the tissue/organ studies, efficiently producing more consistent data than any other systems in the market. At the heart of the system is a versatile mounting platform, on a mounting/control (M/C) bracket, for studying distinct types and sizes of tissue or organ samples with ease. Among the innovative functions are consistent point-of-force application, reliable contractile signal transduction even for mini-contractile, tissue tension micro-adjustment (as fine as 5 microns, see McPherson, 1992), modular tissue holders with or without embedded miniature stimulation electrodes, and a multi-function adjustment feature. The multi-function adjustment is designed to ease tissue mounting and to accommodate different types and sizes of tissue preparations. The micro-adjustment features, along with other innovations, improve experimental consistency among different tissue channels and across different experiments, which is essential for statistical data analyses for bio-tissues/organs.

2. The Versatility and Miniature Tissue Holders

The EZ-Bath™ features a series of proprietary, compact, exchangeable tissue mounting devices, the MV, LV and TS™ series tissue holders. These holders relay accurately the mechanical tension, contractility, and mobility of tissues under study, have embedded stimulation electrodes that generate consistent stimulation actions, and are suitable, in a single platform of exchangeable mounting, for studying various bio-tissue preparations ranging from large/small/micro diameter vessel rings (as small as 200µm in i.d.), skeletal muscle spindles, smooth muscle strips, to atria and other organ/tissue preparations, in our jacketed tissue baths as small 2ml in volume.

The EZ-Bath™ reduces tissue hypoxia by easing and quickening tissue mounting in two ways: vessels or strips can either be pre-mounted in oxygenated chamber on the one of the stretching leg and brought onto the transducer (shown above), or be mounted on pre-positioned top/bottom clamps, needles, hooks quickly and brought into position by using the second micrometer (shown below and on the right).

The buffer pre-warming system (PS) can be easily added to the EZ-Bath system (i.e. on the same base plate), without the need for extra space, to shorten the buffer-warming time and speed up experiments.
